On January 31, at the Romanian Adventist Church in Turin, we spent the day with Pastor Abigaela Trofin, national coordinator of Women’s Ministries, who organized a special time of fellowship, reflection, and listening that touched the hearts of those present.
The morning began with the introduction of our guest. Songs of praise engaged the entire community and created an atmosphere of joyful worship and reflection. The music united our voices and prepared us for the day’s central message.
A particularly meaningful moment was a simple yet powerful skit that highlighted some of the daily dynamics of women’s lives, as well as their vulnerabilities and potential for change. Many of us found concrete insights for our own lives.
This was followed by Pastor Trofin’s sermon, titled “We’re Talking About You.”
“The theme suggests that God has not forgotten you, and that the bond with your roots is preserved by Him even when you cannot be physically present,” the pastor explained. “Even if you are far away and cannot support your family physically, prayer is the invisible bridge that unites your hearts. God cares for your parents while you are far away, in a foreign land, thereby honoring your sacrifice,” she added.
Another point is faith as a legacy. We often feel lost, but our parents’ faith lives within us like a seed. With depth and sensitivity, the pastor’s words encouraged each of us to live an authentic faith.
After the communal agape meal, which strengthened our sense of family and belonging, and a delightful time of singing led by the youth and the choir, we divided into groups for a time of authentic dialogue.
We reflected on our relationship with God, with our parents, with time, and with health, as well as on our personal mission—that is, who we are for others. The questions posed and the selected biblical texts fostered dialogue and moments of genuine introspection. Many shared experiences from their own lives. It was a Sabbath that allowed us to grow spiritually and as a community.
