On February 15, 2026, the sisters of the Women's Ministry group of the Adventist Church in Tudela, Spain, along with some visitors, shared a very special breakfast. We ate breakfast together to celebrate the friendship in Christ that unites us as a spiritual family.
For us, Friendship Day takes on a deep meaning when we contemplate it through the love of God. It is not just an exchange of gifts or kind words; it is the recognition of the divine gift of sisterhood in faith. It is understanding that we are united by something much greater than our affinities: we are united by our heavenly Father.
Sisters of the same Father
The Bible reminds us that a true friend “loves at all times” and becomes “a brother in times of distress” (Proverbs 17:17). What a beautiful truth! That friendship born in God transcends biology. We are adopted by the same Father, and that makes us family.
And our Lord Jesus left us the greatest example when He said, “There is no greater love than to lay down one's life for one's friends” (John 15:13). That is the love we aspire to: a love that is willing to give itself, to sustain, to remain.
A friendship that reflects Christ
In our Christian community, we understand that friendship should be a reflection of Christ's character. Serving one another with humility, practicing forgiveness, and walking together through trials is part of our calling as daughters of God.
The Word tells us in 1 John 4:7 that love comes from God, and whoever loves knows God. Every gesture of loyalty, every sincere hug, every shared prayer becomes an act of worship when it is born of the love that He has placed in our hearts.
Being sisters in faith means walking toward the same goal. We share burdens, celebrate victories, and above all, accompany each other on the journey. Thus, we want to honor those friendships that bring us closer to Heaven, remembering that in God we are never alone. His love is the golden thread that weaves our lives into a single community of hope and peace.
Verses that strengthen our unity
We want to recall some verses that encourage us to strengthen friendship and unity:
“Dear friends, since God loved us so much, we also ought to love one another” (1 John 4:11).
“How good and pleasant it is when brothers live together in unity!” (Psalm 133:1).
“Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor. For if they fall, one will lift up his companion” (Ecclesiastes 4:9-10).
As the Women's Ministry group of the Church of Tudela, our desire is that every year, Friendship and Love Day will be an opportunity to embrace each other more tightly, to forgive each other sincerely, and to remember that God's love is the firm foundation of all true friendship.1
