“Forgiving means giving away” was the topic of this year’s fall retreat of the Berlin-Mid-German Conference with Sylvia Renz as speaker. The venue, the Volkenroda Abbey combines old and new elements in a creative way with lots of green spaces and water.
So what happens at a women’s retreat? First of all, the speaker presents her topics with ensuing discussion. Sylvia Renz, who has authored several Christian books, has a humorous touch and proved that she also has empathy in presenting the topic on forgiveness. Many experiences from the past came up, questions were answered and new hope filled our hearts. We ate, drank, talked, laughed and prayed together. Of course we also sang a lot. On the Sabbath night we experienced a beautiful concert of a vocal group and Sylvia ended the atmospheric evening with her story “The Morning Star”.
Such weekends always end too soon. The participants returned to their families and daily routine with new strength and encouragement.
