Women’s Ministries Retreat in Bavaria

Nothing has to stay the way it is if we don't like it...

...easier said than done I thought to myself! I really wanted to hear what the speaker of the women's weekend from November 4-6, this year, in Sulzberg-Moosbach had to say about it. With my two dearest girlfriends in tow, we headed for the Allgäu and were greeted with a magnificent mountain panorama and cowbell concert as soon as we arrived on Friday afternoon. The Christian guesthouse AllgäuWeite is located above the Rottachspeicher and offers a brilliant view. The bond between unknown sisters was quickly established in an atmosphere of gratitude, love, and hope.
After a delicious supper, the topic was addressed and Gabriele Stangl drew us into the spell with her words. "I have a story for you...". The pastor and Women's Ministries Director of the Berlin Mid-German Conference let us share her years of work as a chaplain at the Waldfriede Hospital in Berlin, where she had fought for the first hospital-affiliated baby hatch. Years later, she also appeared before the Bundestag to advocate for the possibility of legal, anonymous birth for women in difficult circumstances. Her deep faith and loving connection with God helped some miracles happen. In her presentations, she gave us the courage that nothing in our lives has to stay as it is if we don't like it. With God, we can fight like David against Goliath, even if the situation seems hopeless to us.
God was very close to us during this time together in songs, devotions, and deep conversations.
"We have nothing to fear for the future, except as we shall forget the way the Lord has led us, and His teaching in our past history. " E.G. White, Life Sketches
Of course, everyone had brought their backpack of life’s struggles, but no participant left this weekend without hope for change with God's help and His promise to take care of us.
