  • Women's Day of Prayer in Lentini

On Saturday, March 8, to mark the International Women's Day of Prayer, the Lentini church hosted a special event organized by the local Women's Ministries. This gathering provided a unique opportunity for prayer, reflection and sharing, for all members of the community. Two biblical episodes were presented during worship: the story of the woman with the flow of blood, who had been ill for 12 years, and the resurrection of Iairo's daughter. These stories, experienced through the lens of faith, highlighted the extraordinary power that those who believe in God have and how it can transform lives.
To the tune of the song “His Robe,” the congregation was invited to write prayers to the Lord, a gesture that allowed each person to express desires, anxieties and hopes, raising a personal request to our Lord, with hearts filled with the desire to be able to have the faith to witness and believe not “to” God but “in” God. The prayers were attached to a robe placed in the center of the room symbolizing contact with Jesus' robe, in the certainty of receiving comfort and healing, not only physical but also psychological and spiritual.
This ended with a human chain starting from the touch of the robe, during which the elders of the church elevated their prayers to the Lord. This moment reminded us of the unity and strength of the community supporting each other through faith and prayer.
In the afternoon, after sharing a common meal, the women gathered again to address issues of daily life and pray together. These spaces for dialogue and discussion provided a valuable time for personal and collective growth, where each woman's experiences and stories could emerge and find a listening ear, for mutual growth. Everyone was able to open their hearts and confide in their sisters concerns and joys, and pray for each other.
Participants went home with hearts filled with hope and the knowledge that they are part of a community that prays and grows together, ready to face life's challenges with our mighty God.
