It looks like a dreary day. The sky is overcast, gray, and gloomy, yet the Sanctuary of the Rostock Adventist Church is aglow with a sea of flowers. It is Women’s Sabbath, and everything has been lovingly decorated. The men have also dressed up and are doing their best to make the women feel comfortable and welcome.
“When women pray, heaven moves.” With these words, Nancy Duske begins her sermon. She encourages us to come to God with a sincere heart, for it is about a relationship, honesty, and closeness—not perfection or achievement. And since something powerful can begin in weakness, we are urged not to stop praying and never to stop trusting that God will respond. For we can be certain that God will answer “at least in due time.”
In the afternoon, we delve deeper into the “Our Father.” Nancy calls it a weapon in times of doubt, fear, and depression. And so that we don’t forget it, we make bracelets together. Bead by bead, they remind us of Jesus’ words, which we can always pray when our own words fail us. In the early evening, we set off again. It was a beautiful Sabbath. Full of good thoughts, warm encounters, and joyful fellowship. A big thank you to our host congregation for preparing this day so lovingly, down to every detail.
