On Sabbath, March 7, at the Madrid-Vallecas Church, the Women’s Ministry held a wonderful program for Women’s Day, with guest speaker Mercedes Martínez Bou, Women’s Ministries Director for the Spanish Union. Women are symbols of faith and courage; they have been God’s instruments to bring blessings and help to people, and that is why this day is dedicated to women. “A wife of noble character who can find? She is worth far more than rubies” Proverbs 31:10.
Women’s Day Program
The Adventist Church celebrated International Women’s Day of Prayer. The Sabbath service began with a beautiful musical special titled “Suelto,” which led to the sermon by Mercedes Martínez Bou. whose sermon was dedicated to all those tears shed by women—and also by men—in prayer. Those who, in distress and in difficult times, have trusted in God. Our Lord always offers comfort and answers.
The program continued in the afternoon with the topic “Prayer for Women with Many Responsibilities,” which emphasized that women who are tired, stressed, and overwhelmed by burdens and work should seek rest in Christ through prayer. The Lord helps those who seek Him, supporting them in the burdens they bear.
A Call to Women
Women belong to the most beautiful parts of God’s creation, bearers of life, faith, and hope. They have always been a fundamental pillar in families, homes, and communities. In the history of redemption, women have been a key element in its fulfillment; women such as Esther, Ruth, Mary the mother of Jesus, and many others saved peoples, gave hope, brought justice, and, ultimately, were essential to the course of human history.
Men should value, respect, and care for them, for both are God’s creation, made in His very image. Honoring women is not merely a matter of courtesy but a symbol of faith and obedience to God. “Husbands, in the same way be considerate as you live with your wives, and treat them with respect as the weaker partner and as heirs with you of the gracious gift of life, so that nothing will hinder your prayers” 1 Peter 3:7NIV.
