Stories Between Generations That Meet in Old Age

On December 6, our Adventist community in Asti, northern Italy, had the joy of hosting Pastor Abigaela Trofin, national director of the Women's Ministries (WM) Department, for a special day entitled “Let's talk about you!”
The program addressed the theme of generations meeting in old age, as part of the global enditnow® campaign against all forms of violence and abuse, promoted by WM and the Adventist Church. This year, the topic invited us to care for the elderly.
It was an intense Sabbath, rich in emotions and testimonies, in which church members of different ages dialogued together, reflecting on the importance of caring for our grandparents and the elderly, who are often forgotten or neglected in their daily needs. The biblical text “Grey hair is a crown of splendour; it is attained in the way of righteousness” (Proverbs 16:31) accompanied us as a common thread.
The community experienced moments of deep communion, culminating in a special agape meal called “Lunch of Gratitude.” Between courses, we had the opportunity to express our gratitude to God and to others for the many gifts and blessings we have received.
This experience reminded us that caring for the elderly is not only a duty, but above all a privilege that enriches the younger generations and strengthens the fabric of society.
We wish to share our belief that each generation needs the other and that old age is not a limitation, but a precious gift of wisdom and memory.
