Women’s Ministries Activities

Cristina Bastos, WM Director, Portuguese Union

June brings a lot of activity from the Women’s Ministries. In Ermesinde, Women’s Prayer Week took place with the theme “The Holy Spirit and the End Times,” inviting everyone to participate through testimonies and group activities, and concluding with a Women’s Tea gathering.

In Almada, Pastor Hortelinda Gal shared the message, interspersed with discussions and moments of worship. In Matosinhos, the “Women of Life and Me” program continued, where participants learned about Abigail and the lessons she offers for women today.

In Arganil, after a day of lectures, seminars, women’s tea parties, Bible study, and its methodology, the “Cutting and Sewing of Words” program began with a reading from the book ‘Mind, Character, and Personality’ by Ellen White.

The women from Vila do Conde went on a boat ride on the Douro River, where they were able to share testimonies about our God’s goodness, the Sabbath, and MEO Channel 186. They also enjoyed a cable car ride—a new experience for many—along with other scenic tours of Porto, which, combined with the warm fellowship among the sisters, helped reinvigorate spirits weary from the busy demands of daily life.

In Vila Verde, as part of the “Get Moving for Life” event,  a 6-kilometer walk and various exercises were organized to take care of one’s health and stay active. Seeking a better quality of life is also a way to honor God. Despite construction work at the Sines Seventh-day Adventist Church, women gathered in another location and continued to share their mission to proclaim Christ. Alvalade also brought women together for a special consecration ceremony, as is customary elsewhere.

In Reboleira, on Women’s Ministries Emphasis Day, the women were challenged to choose between being a queen without God or a princess with God, in a service filled with moments of praise, fellowship, and other shared experiences. Torres Vedras has also been mobilizing women for mutual intercession, which culminated in a special program featuring an exchange of gifts and affection.

In Aveiro, the Women’s and Health Ministries partnered to invite Dr. Martina Arandjelovic to shed light on various aspects of women’s health and illness, featuring testimonies, praise, a Q&A session, and an understanding of the importance of physical, mental, and spiritual health.

All these activities lift our hearts in gratitude to the Lord, and we rejoice about what His Princesses are doing in local congregations. We are also looking forward to the national women’s retreat in October, at Vita Salus in Penela.
