At the Rays of Hope Festival in June and the Women’s Sabbaths in Verden and Osnabrück, women experienced encouraging fellowship, inspiring messages, and meaningful encounters. The themes “You Are Beautiful” and “Embrace Life” served as a reminder that God’s love and our appreciation for one another give us new strength and enrich our lives.
Some encounters have an impact far beyond the day itself. They give us new strength, allow us to breathe a sigh of relief, and remind us of how valuable fellowship is. Women were able to experience exactly such moments in recent weeks at various locations in the Hanse Conference.
For nearly 30 years, the quarterly “Lichtblick” (Rays of Hope) festivals have been a fixture on many women’s calendars. In June, Regina Nagel guided the participants through the theme “You Are Beautiful.” She spoke openly and honestly about her own journey toward healthy self-esteem and how she was able to discover her beauty, her worth, and new freedom in God. In a lovingly created atmosphere, with good food and many appreciative conversations, a space emerged where fellowship was palpable, and women could encounter one another and God anew.
The Women’s Sabbaths in Verden and Osnabrück were also all about encouragement. Under the theme “Embrace Life,” we discovered together just how much we need God’s closeness and the care of others. The sermon and afternoon program focused on how appreciation can be experienced in very practical ways: through a kind word, a friendly glance, a firm handshake, and, of course, a warm hug. During brief moments of relaxation, hand massages, and personal conversations, an atmosphere of trust developed in which women strengthened and encouraged one another.
Whether at the “Rays of Hope” Festival or the Women’s Sabbath—both events made it clear in their own way: God often meets us through human connections. Where we see, listen to, encourage, and value one another, rays of hope emerge that extend far beyond a single day.
Sometimes change begins with a single encounter—an open heart, a sincere hug, and the certainty: You are seen, loved, and valued.”
