“Would you like to come to our Ladies' Night meeting?” This invitation piqued my curiosity, because this time the meeting was not going to be in the evening, but early on a Sunday morning.
About 15 women from the Adventist Church in Barmbek, Hamburg, met in HafenCity to visit and marvel at the digital exhibition in the “Port des Lumières.” Afterwards, we went out to eat together to share our experiences and chat in a relaxed atmosphere.
Although we are a Christian women's group and belong to the church, these meetings are deliberately held outside the church. For several years now, Miriam, Diana, and Olga have been organizing these special gatherings to provide women with a space to meet outside of church services and official church events.
Olga said that it all started with about five mothers who got together for an evening. Word spread around, and other women from the church asked if they could join—so the group grew step by step.
Women thrive on interaction with each other. Activities outside of church events offer a wonderful opportunity to recharge our batteries, deepen relationships, and strengthen our sense of community. These gatherings encourage meaningful conversations, warm encounters, and growth in faith—all in a relaxed yet bonding atmosphere.
