On March 14, in observance of the International Women’s Day of Prayer, the Women’s Ministries (WM) department of the Adventist Church in Jesi, in the province of Ancona (central Italy), presented the church a unique church service featuring a multi-voiced sermon. The sanctuary, decorated with simplicity and elegance, lent a touch of typically feminine warmth.
The WM group shared the experiences of several women from the Bible, such as Hagar, Miriam, the widow of Zarephtah, the Syro-Phoenician woman, and Timothy’s grandmother. These female figures inspired reflection. Five women from our church identified with each biblical character and conveyed moods, emotions, deep feelings, and a spirit of prayer, as if they themselves had been the character.
One of the WM leaders chose to share a very moving personal experience. Some eyes were filled with tears of emotion. It was an experience that could have had a very negative outcome, but which, thanks to fervent prayer filled with trust in divine intervention, resolved in an extraordinarily positive way. Our young people, with their songs chosen to match the sermon’s theme, added a touch of profound spirituality to the praise and worship of God.
Everything was deeply moving, filling us with emotion and gratitude to the Lord for these special moments that bring us even closer together.
