  • First Leadership Convention with New Women’s Ministries Director in Spain

From November 24-26, 2017, Amalia Reta, the new WM director in Spain invited women to her first leadership convention in Enterprenas, Spain.
115 participants, 35 of them WM leaders, union team members and leaders from the local churches as well as interested women and men followed her invitation to this wonderful meeting place in beautiful scenery, surrounded by a lake and mountains. The women were able to enjoy companionship in warm sunshine.
The topics presented were very varied:
- Introduction to women’s ministries
- Situation of gender understanding in partnership and church life
- Spiritual needs of leaders and women in general
- Presentation of material
- Enditnow Abuse prevention and Orange day
The sermon was presented by Denise Hochstrasser, Women’s Ministries director of the EUD. She challenged the women to hear God’s call and not to wait, but to go ahead and arise and shine and do what the Lord tells them to do. The Lord doesn’t call only the able, but enables the people he calls.
To increase awareness of Orange Day each leader received an orange scarf. All other participants received an enditnow wristband. The participating men offered a beautiful long-stemmed rose to the women as a sign of appreciation.
Even leaders from Mallorca and Lanzarote had made their way to join the joyful and blessed gathering.
A highlight was the news that a joint Women’s Ministries Congress is being planned for Portugal and Spain from Sept 21-23, 2018, to which around 1000 participants are expected. The women were encouraged to start saving for this very special event.
