We all want to be loved, cared for, and understood. But do we treat other people in this way? Do we treat them the way we want to be treated? Do we practice this golden rule? When we follow Jesus’ teachings and His example, we will be purposefully compassionate. Compassion helps us see people differently. We see them as valuable, though they might be hurt or suffering. We see in them people who deserve to be hugged, loved, understood, helped, and cherished.
enditnow® Emphasis Day is on the world church's Calendar of Days and Events and falls on the fourth Sabbath of August. General Conference Women's Ministries (GCWM) coordinates the production and distribution of the enditnow® Emphasis Day resource packets with contributions from seven additional co-sponsoring departments of the General Conference.
The enditnow® packet for 2026 focuses on compassion and how we can learn to be more compassionate, more proactive, more helpful, and more like Jesus. The title of the sermon is ‘Moved with Compassion’ and the Seminar is called ‘The Healing Power of Compassion’. Both were written by Karen Holford, currently the Trans-European Division Director of Adventist Family, Children’s, and Health Ministries. She is also a qualified family therapist with a certificate in compassionate leadership.
The documents for this year include a children's story, sermon, and seminar scripts in We encourage you to use these resources in your church’s enditnow® Emphasis Day program. Available for download at https://women.adventist.org/enditnow-day
In some European countries, the enditnow® Emphasis Day is not observed on August 22, but rather later in the year on or near the International Day for the Elimination of Gender-Based Violence on November 25. Whenever you want to address the topic of prevention of abuse and violence, you are invited to use this valuable material.
