  • Caregivers Gather in Alicante, Spain

On Sunday, April 26, we held the “Tea Among Friends” event organized by the Women’s Ministry  (WM) of Alicante, Spain. It was a very special gathering for sharing insights on caring for women who are caregivers. We also reflected on how God has spoken to us about this care since the foundation of the world.

Tea Among Friends
This occasion brought together a group of women and girls involved in WM. We also had guests who attended “Tea Among Friends” for the first time.

After a warm welcome, we moved on to an icebreaker activity: each participant pretended to be a flower in a large garden. Depending on the color of their rose, they sought out flowers of the same color to hug, greet, and introduce themselves. They also shared a word of encouragement. In short, it was a moment that created an atmosphere of trust, laughter, affection, and empathy.

TEAMWORK, COOPERATION, ORGANIZATION…

In the second part of the gathering, we worked on team dynamics, cooperation, organization, and leadership. Through these activities, we shared knowledge, skills, and creativity. This also sparked the desire to design posters about caring for women caregivers.

Culturally, the role of caregiving has fallen to women. We care for our parents, our sons and daughters, and our husbands. We also care for other family members and even our pets. That’s why we research and put into practice what health experts recommend for taking care of ourselves. That way, we can better care for those around us.

However, we are not alone. Our Heavenly Father reminds us daily that He cares for us. Here are some of the Bible verses we share:

·        Caring for health and the body: Luke 10:34

·        Caring for parents and family: 1 Timothy 5:4,8; Ephesians 6:2

·        God’s care for us: Psalm 121:7-8

·        Self-care: Proverbs 19:8

We closed the meeting by celebrating the quarter’s birthdays. Happy birthday to everyone!

Every woman who belongs to WM is a precious gem that the Lord has brought to embrace, accompany, and care for in times of distress and joy.1
