  • An Afternoon of Joy and Fellowship in Lentini, Italy

On July 7, in a lively and welcoming atmosphere, the “Guardians of the Heart” gathering took place, organized by the Women’s Ministries of the church in Lentini, Sicily. It was a special event that brought together young and old alike for a precious moment of fellowship and intergenerational exchange.

The evening began with a generous cocktail reception that set the stage for laughter, shared stories, and warm hugs.

The workshop started with the screening of an animated film that explores the world of emotions, offering a simple yet profound starting point for delving into the complexity of our inner lives. Drawing inspiration from the film’s themes and in light of biblical wisdom, the adults discussed how essential it is to accept every nuance of our emotions—from joy to sadness—without succumbing to the temptation of hiding our vulnerabilities, but rather to learn to entrust them to God. At the same time, the children were involved and discovered that even the most difficult emotions, when shared, become growth opportunities.

It was a precious time in which spiritual reflection blended with the simplicity of celebration. To cap off this moment, the promise resounded powerfully: “Those who sow with tears will reap with songs of joy” (Psalm 126:5).

The gathering reminded us that guarding our hearts means, first and foremost, creating spaces for listening and authentic love, where every generation can feel welcomed. Furthermore, it does not mean shielding our hearts or feigning a superficial happiness, but having the courage to present ourselves to God and to others with total authenticity, because in feeling incomplete we are driven to seek the Father’s love. Just as Jesus did not hesitate to show his compassion in the face of suffering, we too are called to embrace all our frailties without fear. It is precisely in mutual embrace and shared comfort that our “tears” are transformed into a precious ground for grace, reminding us of the deepest blessing: there is an authentic and mature joy that always awaits those who learn to let themselves be consoled.
