  • ADRA ROMANIA commemorates the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women

As every year, ADRA Romania joins organizations worldwide in the fight against the violation of women's rights through the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, celebrated every year on 25 November.
Since 2009, ADRA Romania runs the "Emergency Reception Centre for Victims of Domestic Violence - Casa ADRA". The objective of this project is the social reintegration of victims of domestic violence through shelter, social counseling, psychological counseling, emergency medical assistance, food, and referral to a lawyer. The lives of the beneficiaries housed in the center have been changed because they have experienced a different way of living: free from physical, verbal, economic, psychological, sexual, and religious violence, based on spiritual values, and cultivating healthy habits in nutrition, exercise, education, and recreation.
Violence against women is one of the most widespread human rights violations in the world. It takes place at home, on the street, at school, in the workplace, in refugee camps, and hospitals. To a greater or lesser extent, it happens in every country in the world, regardless of ethnicity, race, age, background, income, or level of education.
An international fund-raising effort including a music festival is being organized to aid this initiative.
