A Day for Women in Dammarie-les-Lys

Recognising one’s limits, forging a path

Paulette Abati, WM Director, Franco-Belgian Union

In Dammarie-les-Lys, France, the day on 26 September 2026 centred on a biblical reflection and a personal guidance workshop, based on two complementary themes proposed by Paulette Abati, WM director of the Franco-Belgian Union.

‘Strength Beyond My Limits’ invited us to rediscover Philippians 4:13 in the light of Paul’s experience. This passage reveals a strength that enables us to endure trials and persevere, even when circumstances remain difficult. The message thus challenged our attitudes towards success and vulnerability, whilst reminding us that acknowledging our limitations can also open the way to trusting in God.

The workshop for women, ‘What is holding me back?’, explored the barriers that hinder personal growth. It encouraged each participant to identify their own obstacles, to assess their scope for action, and to choose a first small, concrete, and achievable step. This approach, enriched by a spiritual foundation, aimed to transform this realisation into a starting point for taking action in one’s daily life.

These two initiatives illustrated the mission of Women’s Ministries: to accompany women in the various aspects of their lives, to support their capacity-building and to encourage their involvement in the Church and society.
