As part of the Seventh-day Adventist Church's calendar of events, Women's Ministries Emphasis Day, a day especially dedicated to highlight the role of women in the church and strengthen their spiritual identity, was held on the second Sabbath of June. This commemoration, recognized worldwide, offers women the opportunity to lead the worship service, share their experiences and motivate others to become involved in ministerial work.
It is the ideal time to introduce to the church family the team of women who collaborate in the Ministry at the local church level and to invite those who have not yet participated to join in. Therefore, in the different congregations, the Ministry plans a day of emphasis. A full day of activities, including Sabbath School, worship service, a fellowship meal and an evening program, providing a special occasion to invite friends and acquaintances to worship together, glorify the Lord, and get to know each other better. And above all, it is a special occasion to emphasize that "women's leadership does not compete, it completes. The church flourishes when all voices are heard". Mercedes Martínez Bou, Women’s Ministries Director of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Spain visited the church in Vigo on this special day.
The theme chosen for this 2025 Women's Ministry Emphasis Day was “Cravings of the Soul.” Based on a statement of identity found in Ephesians 2:10: “We are God's masterpiece. He created us anew in Christ Jesus, so that we might do the good things he prepared for us long ago.” The truth is that, in an increasingly digital and globalized world, there is also the danger of comparing ourselves to others, seeking validation in social networks or adopting identities that do not reflect who we really are in God, which can generate a crisis in which the person feels lost or disconnected from his or her spiritual essence.
On this Women's Ministries Emphasis Day, the author of the sermon material, Nancy Cabrera, through her heartbreaking personal testimony, based on a childhood marked by family abuse and illness, pointed out that the key to protecting one's identity is to strengthen one's personal relationship with God through prayer and the study of the Lord's promises. Women face many challenges in today’s society where spiritual truths are left aside, risking losing their dignity and value as true daughters of God.
