Women's Spring Breakfast 2025 in the Müllheim Adventist Church, Germany

Communication is the way to an authentic existence

Women's Spring Breakfast 2025 in the Müllheim Adventist Church, Germany

We can hardly believe it ourselves! For the fifth time, we opened our doors, planned, cooked, baked, spent days crafting and invited our friends and acquaintances, as well as absolute strangers. It's WOMEN'S BREAKFAST TIME again in Müllheim. That means a lot of laughter, bustle, running back and forth, carrying and cutting, arranging flowers and lots of joy! Spring women's breakfast! A new departure!
This time we found another very special “pearl” that allowed us to dive even deeper into communication. Yevgeniya Yunusova, very modest and reserved, and yet full of energy and knowledge. She graduated with a doctorate in philosophy in Ukraine and worked as a lecturer in philosophy at the Ukrainian Humanitarian Institute in Bucha until the start of the war. And best of all, she is one of our sisters in our church in Müllheim! After a rich and varied breakfast, she stood in front of the flipchart and got started.  Many guests and sisters from outside the congregation listened to her talk on her favorite topic: “Vertical and horizontal communication.”
Her first words made us sit up and take notice: “’Communication is a vital human necessity and a way to authentic existence’ - says Karl Jaspers.“
The word communication has many definitions and meanings. Countless books have already been written about it.

  • Communication is a process of transferring information.
  • It is a connection between living beings.
  • It is also a form of human existence.
  • Communication is the universal condition for human existence.
  • We can only achieve knowledge, understanding and truth through communication.
  • Communication is the ontological basis of human existence.
  • But unfortunately, our communication, as we commonly understand it, is often not genuine.

Where can we find a solution here?   - To understand this, we asked ourselves a few questions:

  • Does the ideal communication model even exist?
  • Where, what or who is the source of communication?
  • What is the main principle of communication?
  • What does real communication bring us?
  • What is vertical and horizontal communication?
  • What is a personality?  What role does communication play?

After a 45 minute lecture that we enjoyed and many answered questions, Yevgeniya ended with the words: “As K. Jaspers said: But I am only in conjunction with the Other, alone I am nothing.”
God is the source of all communication, he gives us “being”.
So, with questions from our ranks and personal conversations, another blessed women's breakfast came to an end. Linda thanked Yevgeniya with a self-sewn book cover as well as patchwork cards for all participants. We would especially like to thank God, who blessed us so much during the preparation time and during the women's breakfast. Without him the words we hear would not have an effect. Furthermore, a big recognition of Yevgeniya's courage, who, despite a slight language barrier, brought this topic closer to us with a lot of competence and humor!
The next women’s breakfast will be in July with our new project: a wellness day for women.
