A Fragrance for Christ

A Fragrance for Christ

Corina Timofte, Women’s Ministries Director, Franco-Belgian Union

For we are to God the pleasing aroma of Christ among those who are being saved and those who are perishing.

 2 Corinthians 2,15 NIV

As soon as we hear the word spring, our eyes are opened to see the fresh, green colors of nature that the rays of the sun energize, filling the earth with vitality. The world is in the process of reinventing itself and we desire change and something new more than ever. We start spring cleaning when we dust and clean everything, open the windows to let in the fresh garden scent into our homes.
This is something God is especially interested in. In the plan to build the Tabernacle, He told Moses to make an altar of incense: "Make an altar of acacia wood for burning incense." Exodus 30:1
The instructions are clear: "Do not offer on this altar any other incense or any burnt offering or grain offering, and do not pour a drink offering on it… It is most holy to the Lord.” Verses 9+10
Wearing perfume reveals the personality of the wearer, it is always linked to a sacrifice. As women, we like to use perfume. We constantly aim to smell good, and many acquire the best brands of perfume no matter the price.
To wear perfume is to offer a gift to others, to create a pleasant environment around us. Softness, benevolence, simplicity, understanding, intelligence, tolerance, modesty, virtue, cleanliness, and many other nuances.
But let us be sensitive and take in the perfume spread by others.  Nothing can equal the sharing and the joy of living in personal harmony and harmony with others. Sometimes we destroy such harmony with alterations. Let’s use the necessary fragrance so that we do not lose contact with the people in our environment.
In this world disturbed by dramatic events, let's stay true to the instructions: let's not buy foreign ideas, let's not adopt unpleasant attitudes, and let's not buy fake perfumes on the street corner.
Let's use this springtime to spread pleasant and fresh fragrances.
